RRB NTPC Preparation Strategy 2020


RRB NTPC declared 35208 vacancies for the recruitment of candidates in various non-technical posts in Railway. After a long time, releasing the NTPC notification in 2019 RRB declared that the RRB NTPC CBT-1 will be conducted after 15th of December 2020. Before you take the exam you need to know how to crack RRB NTPC in the first attempt. There are two types of candidates posts in NTPC, Graduate and undergraduate. For undergraduate candidates, there are 10603 vacancies. For graduate candidates, there are 24605 vacancies.

Let's have a short tour for exam pattern in RRB NTPC. The exam is conducted in three stages: CBT-1, CBT-2 and lastly document verification. In CBT -1 candidates need to qualify the cut off marks in respect to their category so that they can participate in CBT-2. The marks of CBT-1 will not be added in the final result.

Know all aout RRB NTPC Examination

There are three sections in both CBT 1 and 2: Mathematics, Reasoning and General Awareness. Moreover, both stages have the same time duration of 90 minutes. Although, for PWD candidates there are 30 minutes extra for each stage. One-third marks will be deducted for each wrong attempted in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.

Subject wise RRB NTPC Prepration Strategy

1. Mathematics

Mathematics carries 30 marks in CBT 1 and 35 marks in CBT-2.

Syllabus: Number System, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportions, Percentage, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Elementary Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics etc.

  • One has to cover all the syllabus of mathematics. Especially the chapters like percentage, ratio proportion, allegation you need to understand very clearly. Because other chapters depend on these code chapters as formulae and short tricks.
  • All math question has a certain type. You need to remember the type of questions. So that when you see the question in examination hall the solution trick strick instantly in your mind.
  • You suppose to allocate 30 seconds for each question. Try to solve the easy one first. You should not linger around the tough one. You can try those though one at the end.
  • You need to remember all the formulae and short tricks.

2. General Awareness

General awareness is one of the most important topics in many examinations. In RRB NTPC it carries 40 marks in CBT -1 and 50 marks in CBT-2.

There are some tricks you need to know while preparing for RRB NTPC exam as follows:

  1. You need to be updated with the current news. Try to remember at least 6 months of current affairs which have national and international importance by the exam date.

3. Reasoning

Reasoning and general intelligence carry 30 and 35 marks in CBT -1 and CBT -2 examination respectively.

  1. There are plenty of rules for different reasoning. You suppose to cover all the rules for a different type of reasoning questions.
  2. Grap one good book of reasoning and try to solve at least 10 reasoning per day of different types.

Important Tips for RRB NTPC

There are some important tips you suppose to know before dig into the RRB NTPC exam preparation as follows:

  1. Remembering: You can prepare for the NTPC exam day in day out. But you need to remember how long you invest in study ultimately the things you remember in your mind at the of the day is important.
  2. Take it easy: Do not panic before the examination. Some people read till they reached to the exam hall. But you need to remember that it is not fruitful. You need to remember that you are already preparing for the whole year. The moment revision will not help at all. Because less likely that the last revision topic will appear in the question. As the syllabus is vast.
  3. Group Discussion: You may prepare for the exam all alone. But having someone for discussion is more helpful. It will help you to remember more things. If your friend living far from your home try to discuss over the phone.
  4. Topic-wise study: You need to remember that competitive exam is not your school examination, although topics are the same. The syllabus is more vast in this case. So you need to take a certain topic and gather information about it from the Internet or books.
  5. Be Positive: Don't think about there are too much competition or so. Just think about the bright side of life. Clam your mind and meditate you 3 minutes every morning. Make a to-do list before starting your day.
