Crack Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in First Attempt


The Joint Entrance Examination, commonly known as the JEE, is an All-India level examination for getting admission into the undergraduate level courses in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). The JEE consists of two parts — JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

The JEE Main exam is for admissions into NITs, IIITs, CFTIs will give you an undergraduate degree. But if you clear the cut-off marks, you will be able to sit for JEE Advanced and take admissions in IITs.

Eligibility criteria for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2020

According to National Testing Agency (NTA), the eligibility criteria consist of important details as follows:

  1. Educational qualification: Candidate should have passed class 12 or qualifying the exam in 2018 or 2019. Candidate appearing in class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam in 2020 can also apply for JEE Main.
  2. Age limit: There is no age limit. However, the He/She have to pass 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2018 or in 2019. Candidates appearing for 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2020 are also eligible to apply.
  3. The number of attempts in JEE Main: JEE Main candidates can participate in the entrance exam for 3 consecutive years. The exam will be conducted twice a year, they may appear in both the attempts. The attempt for an academic year will be considered as one. Therefore, the total no. of attempts in JEE Main for one candidate is six.
  4. Subject/subjects combination for admission into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs: Should have passed the qualifying examination with
    • For B.Tech/ B.E: Physics, Mathematics, Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject).
    • For B.Arch: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
    • For B.Plan: Mathematics.
  5. Nationality:

Hacks to crack JEE in the first time attempt

  1. Plan a daily time table and utilize your maximum time to read Physics, Chemistry. Fix consecutive 4hrs for Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. When you get tired or get stressed take rest for 10mins. 2. Avoid distractions during studies.

  3. Paste chemistry charts and important formulas and information on the wall of your room so that you can look into it whenever you want.
  4. JEE Main paper contains 25 questions per subject - Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Hence, you have to focus on 3subjects equally. But you can also select some chapters from which every year guaranteed questions come and ignore those chapters from which only 1-2 questions sometimes come and sometimes don’t.
  5. It is very important to solve the last 10years question papers which will give you a brief idea about the question pattern and also you will come to know about important chapters which are very important.

Physics Books 1. Concept of Physics (Volume I and II)’ by H.C. Verma- Some of the best-covered chapters in this book are Optics, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Modern Physics.
2. Problems in General Physics’ by I.E Irodov- Book for practising problems.
3. Fundamentals of Physics’ by Halliday, Resnick, and Walker: Specialised book for topics such as Wave Optics, Electro Magnetism, Rotation, and Kinematics.
Chemistry Books 1. NCERT Textbooks’ (For Class 11 and 12)
2. Physical Chemistry’ by O.P. Tandon: Important topics such as Nuclear Transformation, Atomic Structure, Stoichiometry, Radioactivity, etc are brilliantly covered in this book.
3. Concise Inorganic Chemistry’ by J.D. Lee: Reference books on Inorganic Chemistry.
4. Organic Chemistry’ by Morrison and Boyd: Reference books on Organic Chemistry.
