What is Tiger Reserve

India is the home of world largest tiger species the Bengal tiger(Panthera tigris tigris). There is a total of 50 tiger reserve in India. In 1973 the Government of India launched project tiger for the conservation of tiger in the Indian subcontinent. In 18 states there are tiger reserves.

Name of The Tiger Reserves:

1. Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary

  • It was established in 1989.

2. Namdapha National Park

  • It was established in 1974
  • It is a Tiger Reserve since 1983.
  • It is the fourth largest national park in the country.

3. Pakke Tiger Reserve

  • It was established in 1966.
  • It is also famous for Hornbill.
  • It is a Tiger Reserve since 2002.
